Henry C. Turner, Jr. joins RSP’s Ambassador Circle

Henry is a Principal in HWVJ Enterprises, LLC a Service Disabled Veteran and Minority-Owned
company that owns and operates the Marlton golf course in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. They
are one of five Black groups of owners who own a golf course out of over 15,000 golf courses in
the U.S. Henry was inducted into the African American Golfers’ Hall of Fame in 2016. Henry
also currently serves as the First Vice Commander, American Legion Post 381 located in Baden/
Brandywine, Maryland which is the newest American Legion Post in the State. As a charter
member, Henry was instrumental in getting it established.
A founder of Turner & Associates, LLC, he directed the Company’s mission to develop, pur-
chase, own, operate and sell real estate and interests in real estate. Through his vision, the Compa-
ny introduced the Washington Metropolitan area to its concept of designing/developing prestigious communities that have a
distinctive theme and character. He worked closely with the Prince George’s County Council, County staff, outside
community associations, civic organizations, and interest groups to deliver successful projects in jurisdictions that
had a complex constituency. He successfully negotiated and acquired four separate parcels of land totaling over
335 acres and led the Company through the start of three major luxury estate subdivisions in Southern Prince
George’s County.
Henry served in the U. S. Army as an officer in the Quartermaster and Acquisition Corps. He is a Gulf War com-
bat veteran who served as Operations Officer for the Defense Logistics Agency in Saudi Arabia. Upon returning from
combat, he was selected to participate in the Pentagon’s Joint Staff Intern program with then Joint Chiefs of Staff, General
Colin Powell. Later he was also selected to serve as an intern in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for The Honorable
Dick Cheney and was the Military Assistant to the First Family during President Clinton’s first inauguration. In 1997, Hen-
ry was selected for the prestigious position of Military Assistant to the Acting Secretary of the Army, The Honorable
Robert M. Walker. Henry advised him on numerous issues and policies relating to acquisition, financial management, lo-
gistics, manpower and personnel affairs, information management systems, and Small and Disadvantage Business pro-
grams. He also represented him at the White House, with Members of Congress, at the Office of the Secretary of Defense,
and numerous private sector organizations. During Henry’s prestigious military career, he earned numerous military
awards to include two Legion of Merit Medals, a Bronze Star Medal, five Army Meritorious Service Medals, a Joint
Commendation Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, an Army Achievement Medal, and Identification Badges
from Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint, and Army Staff. He retired after 21 years of military service as a LTC.
Henry has served on a number of boards including the Greater Prince George’s Business Roundtable; Maryland
National Capital Building Industry Association; and founded and chaired the Inaugural Prince George’s County Am-
bassadors’ Day which hosted over 38 foreign diplomats and local dignitaries. He was also appointed by the Prince
George’s County Executive and served as a Historic Preservation Commissioner, Chairman of the Historic
Preservation Grants’ Council, and as the inaugural Chairman of the Prince George’s County Veterans’ Commis-
sion. He served as a member of Congresswoman Donna Edwards’ Military Service Academy Review Board and
is a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. Henry has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineer-
ing from the United States Military Academy (West Point) and Masters in Business Administration from Babson
College. He is also a graduate from among the military’s most prestigious colleges: the Air Command and Staff
College, and the Defense Systems Management College at the Defense Acquisition University.
Henry comes from a four generation family of military service to our country. Henry’s grandfather, PFC James
Edward Turner was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during WWI while Henry’s father, COL, U.S.A. (ret)
Henry Clay Turner served in the military for over 30 years and his mother, June Caldwell Turner taught school for
30 years. Henry’s brothers, Eric and Michael Turner are both West Point graduates who completed 20 years of
military service retiring as LTCs. His sister, Ingrid Turner is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy also complet-
ing 20 years of military service retiring as a CDR. His niece, 2LT Leah C. Turner and nephew, 2LT Michael E.
Turner, II both just graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in May of 2020. Henry is happily
married to LTC (U.S.A., ret.) Winifred E. Turner, Chief of Administrative Services for the National Gallery of Art
in Washington, D.C. and they live in Upper Marlboro, MD. They have three outstanding children now adults:
MAJ Langston J. Turner – Son, Active Duty Army Engineer Officer stationed at FT Knox, KY, and a James
Madison University ROTC graduate; Nicole S. Turner – Daughter, Vice President of Capital Disbursements and
Fixed Assets for R.L.J. Real Estate Investment Trust and a Hampton University graduate; Dominic B. Turner –
Son, Chief Financial Officer for the Alexandria City School System and College of William and Mary graduate.
